Club Arrowhead Coach:

Martie NewmanVolleyball Bio

martienewmanI have 4 years of experience coaching club ball. My first year of coaching club was for East Valley Juniors where she coached 16-2’s. My second year of coaching was for Molten where I again coached a 16’s team. Both teams advanced quickly in their age group. Last year was my second season with Club Arrowhead coaching the 18-1’s. The team had great success and advanced quickly again this past year. I currently coach JV at Higley High School and will soon be finishing my 2 year as head coach. I have played volleyball throughout junior high, high school, and also all four years in college. Along with volleyball, I played basketball, softball and participated in track, I never got enough of sports and athletics! I have received many awards throughout my years as an athlete. I was a district and state champion discus thrower in high school and I was also named all state middle blocker my senior year even after I had blown my knee toward the end of season L  In college I was awarded the All-Conference and All-TSAC Tournament team recognition for volleyball.  I still currently hold the record for most kills in a match (39) at my Alma Mater, Trevecca University. My first year at Trevecca turned out to be the best year the program had ever had. With new Head Coach, Scott Jones, the Lady Trojans had a winning record of 32-12 for the first time in the schools history. My team also advanced to the Region XI tournament which was also the first in the schools history. I was the first recruit for Coach Jones, as the head coach for Trevecca, and was the only out of state player recruited that year. When I am not playing or coaching volleyball I am at my full time job working for McCarthy Building Companies where I have been a project coordinator for 7 years. I just recently finished my bachelor’s degree this past July and am now currently going to school for my masters degree in professional counseling. I hope to one day become a marriage and family counselor. I also volunteer for McCarthy Building Companies “Heart Hat’s” charity program. In my free time I like to visit with my family and spend time with my boyfriend. I am the youngest of 6 and I have 17 nieces and nephews. I am a very intense coach that loves the game of volleyball. I truly believe with heart, hard work and dedication, anyone can be successful. Her motto: “Attitude is Everything”
