2011 is the 11th year that Club Arrowhead Volleyball has organized Spikefest.  Spikefest is a tournament that was designed to give junior high players an opportunity to play volleyball in a high school, big tournament atmosphere.  This is the first opportunity for some girls to play on regulation wooden floors!  Each team will play a minimum of 8 matches.

Spikefest is also a fundraiser for the high schools who participate.  The high school volleyball team from Ironwood provide the referees for the tournament.  The Varsity coaches for Ironwood are also at the tournament to provide direction to the high school volleyball players and as site directors.

Spikefest also provides recognition to those athletes who “stand out” among their peers.  For every match during the tournament, coaches from each team select athletes from the opposing team to be the most valuable player.  The tournament staff tallies all the votes at the end of the tournament.  The player with the most votes is awarded the title of Spikefest most valuable player (MVP).  The players receiving the next highest votes are placed on the Spikefest all tournament team.  The next players are Spikefest honorable mention.  The MVP, first team, and honorable mention athletes are recognized in a ceremony after the gold medal match.

We would like to thank the Peoria School District for allowing us to use their gyms for Spikefest.  We are thrilled to combine our efforts with high school volleyball teams to help raise funds for their programs.  Thank you coaches for your time, effort and spirit for teaching and coaching the volleyball players of the future.  Thank you to all parents who support their schools and players in this sport we’ve all come to enjoy.
